VIDEO: Felipe Massa Drives a JAMES BOND Jaguar C-X75 Prototype

Launched before the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari, the Jaguar C-X75 could have become the world’s first hybrid hypercar if it weren’t for the global economic crisis. While the project was scrapped, five prototypes were built and developed to test out new technologies for the British automaker.

While the C-X75 won’t reach the production line, it does star heavily in the new James Bond film Spectre and acts as the car of Hinx, the villain played by Dave Bautista. Prior to the film’s global release, Williams Formula One driver Felipe Massa had the opportunity to drive the new C-X75 on a track in Mexico City.

Discussing his chance to get behind the wheel of the near-900 hp hypercar, Massa said “It was a thrill to take the wheel of a real stunt car used in a Bond movie. Jaguar partnered with Williams Advanced Engineering on the production of these stunning supercars, so it was great to experience some of what my colleagues have developed outside of F1.  It was so much fun, and very exciting to be driving the Jaguar on a SPECTRE filming location here in Mexico City.”

Powering the Jaguar C-X75 is an incredible turbocharged and supercharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine revving to 10,300 rpm and producing 500 hp. Additional power is produced by two 650-volt batteries and electric motors bringing total power up to 890 hp.
